My spiritual journey

in Hindu Spirituality

Hi everyone! I recently made the decision to convert to Hinduism. I have identified as agnostic for several years because I was disappointed by the hypocrisy of many mainstream religions (as defined by your average white American I should say) and that disappointment hit a record high over the last four years. I recently moved to North Carolina but I moved from a neighborhood that was culturally diverse and I made several dear friends with my Hindu neighbors. Through many discussions and just witnessing the way they truly live their ideology, I was moved to make a change. In the typical Christian church there a phrase used by the minister often that simply urges the congregation to walk the walk of their faith instead of just talking the talk. That is sadly not what usually happens. I can say with 100% certainty that the Hindus I know and love live their faith. They "walk the walk". All of this being said, I've now found myself in an area that doesn't appear to have any cultural diversity at all. I am in Arden and if there anyone near me that wants to share my journey with me through conversations and maybe going to a temple with me. I don't want to only be around people that look like me or were raised like me...etc. Please respond if you are someone that can support me in this journey.

Greetings Elizabeth, As you will read and move ahead in the spiritual journey, there will be many mysteries unfolded.

In Chapter 10 Vibhuti Yoga of the holy book of Hindus Shree Bhagavad Gita, Krishna expand himself as the various legendary gods. He explained his various forms and create his new personality. In the article on VEDIC GODS at sameedh.com Lord Krishna explains where we can find him in 10th chapter of Bhagvad Gita. What's the importance and essence of those elements?

So also, an article on ADITYA VISHNU from the same site, there is a discussion on among the 12 Aaditya's why only Vishnu and not other.

Interestingly, these twelve Aadityas were adopted in to Chinese and Japanese Buddhism as guardians of the monasteries covering the four main directions, four semi-directions, above, below and the Sun and Moon.

A similar depiction is found on a rock-cut cave far away in Yazili Kaya in Turkey ! This rock-cave has multiple depictions of Gods and Goddesses that resemble Hindu Gods.

Its vedic meaning in Surya (Aaditya) is the soul of all kind of matters and elements of the world. In Prashnopanishad said:

“Pranati Prajanamuda yatvesha Suryah |” (P. U. 1 to 8)

Means whole creatures of the world, soul of visible and invisible universal things is Surya, the Sun God. During explanation of this shloka ( versa ), Rigveda is highlighted by sagas. They explained very clearly that the energy of all things, creatures' activity as well as light heat, electrical, magnetic, nuclear energy is generated from Aaditya. Even trees, plants, animals, humans, etc are absorbing energy either directly or indirectly from Sun.
