In today's world, due to influence from Western media and Marxist historians, Hindu youths are drifting away from Hinduism. Hindu youths of today, especially from metropolitan cities, have no knowledge of Hinduism and/or Hindu history. Most do not know about great Hindu kings, queens, sages, etc. Most do not know about the contribution of Hindus to spirituality and science. Most do not the reality of caste and varnas. And all of this due to indoctrination from childhood that all spoken by the West is only true.
But even in this dire situation there may lie an opportunity. If Hindus who are citizens of the Western world raise their voices, if they start clarifying doubts and busting myths, if they start using the media and academia to fight for Hinduism, if they start protesting against the conversion of Hindus in India by Christian missionaries and digestion of Hindu cultural elements by Christianity, etc, due to the psychological conditioning of the Indian psyche by the current education system, can Hinduism in India be saved?
While efforts are being taken up to counter the Marxist drivel by many organisations, the best way to ensure survival of the Sanatana Dharma is to inculcate a sense of Dharma in our children.
Earlier, due to joint families and the pious inclination of grandparents, children would be instilled with a deep sense of Dharma right from their childhood. The interactions with grandparents ensure that Dharmic upbringing was inculcated at the right age. Such upbringing has as of yet prevented practicing Hindus from falling for Marxist atheism.
As family bonds weaken, the onus lies on us to take our children back to their roots. If we can take time out for the development of an interest in Dharmic activities of our children, we ensure that Sanatana survives for at least one more generation.
Rajiv Malhotra is doing this. We need to support him. Secondly, we need to come up with a good curriculum to develop our youth. This will take significant time and effort.
